Respect the line between fandom and canon.

Fans should not control a show. It shouldn’t make a difference to a story arc what trends on twitter or who charts on iTunes. It’s wonderful if you tweet trends or buy songs to show your support for the show or find solidarity with like-minded people, but it becomes a problem when fans start to make demands. “They better give me XYZ now!!” Trust me, I understand being upset about choices the writers make, but that’s why we have fandom.

There is a line that I think gets blurred so often because the writers and the cast seem so accessible to us (via Tumblr, Twitter, etc) Respect gets lost in translation, I think. I’m not defending the show runners or their choices (ironically, the number of eating disorder jokes makes me want to vomit) but the lack of respect people give them is sickening. The lack of respect people show the cast is disgusting. Don’t abuse the access we have to these people by tweeting Lea inappropriate things about Cory or leaving Dianna questions about Achele in her askbox. Don’t tell Ryan Murphy he should die in a fire or tell Jenna she’s a cockblock. Be respectful in public…. and then feel free to go random letter your rage in private.
